My name is Maddie Bomher (She/Her). I am a freelance photographer here in Chicago, IL. I really enjoy collaborating with artists and creatives to create unique, explosive portraits.

I grew up in a small town near Rockford, IL in a rural community. I later moved to Chicago to pursue a Bachelor’s degree of Art of instrumental performance on bass guitar from Columbia College of Chicago.

After college, I was an active musician and began creating Youtube videos to test out my comedy writing and performance. Over time, I began experimenting with the DSLR camera I had purchased to make videos. My interest in the profession quickly grew and suddenly I was taking as many portraits as I could! I am self taught in photography and have spent countless hours studying and practicing my techniques to achieve my desired style. I enjoy learning new tips and tricks and one of my favorite ways of doing that is by shooting with other photographers.

I have been doing photography for many years and am excited to see where the next shoot takes me physically, creatively, and mentally.

Beyond photography, I greatly enjoy being outdoors, traveling, camping, and hiking. I also participate in several “wise” hobbies such as bird watching, painting (acrylic) and being a self proclaimed film critic. I am a huge supporter of self help, therapy, mental health and inner growth. These topics arise often during shoots and I am always humbled by how trusting and vulnerable my clients can be. I like being able to create a safe, non judgmental space for people to be themselves. To let their inner beauty shine. This is when the best portraits are made.
